About Split PDF

Extract any pages you need from a PDF — no account, no watermark, no plugins. Upload a PDF, choose how to split it, and download your pages in seconds. Three modes cover every use case: split every page into its own file, extract a specific page range, or hand-pick individual pages.

Processing runs server-side via Ghostscript. Files are deleted automatically within 30 minutes.

How to split a PDF online

  1. Upload your PDF — drop a file onto the upload zone or click Browse. Max 20 MB, max 200 pages.
  2. Choose a split mode: Split All Pages, Extract a Range, or Pick specific pages from the thumbnail grid.
  3. Click Split PDF. Processing is done server-side — no plugins required.
  4. Download individual page PDFs or a ZIP file for 4+ pages.
How do I extract non-consecutive pages — for example, pages 1, 5, and 12?
Use Pick Pages mode. The thumbnail grid lets you click any combination of pages regardless of order. The downloaded PDF contains the selected pages in the order they appeared in the original document.
Does splitting a PDF reduce the quality of images or text on the extracted pages?
No. Pages are extracted without re-encoding. Image data, embedded fonts, and vector content pass through to the output exactly as they existed in the source. This is different from printing to PDF, which re-rasterizes content.
What’s the maximum number of pages I can split?
200 pages. For PDFs longer than 200 pages, split in segments: extract pages 1–200, then extract the remainder from the original file using adjusted page numbers for the second pass.
My PDF has 200 pages but I only need three of them. Will Pick Pages work?
Yes. The thumbnail grid renders all pages regardless of how many you select. Click the three pages you need, and the download contains only those three.
Are password-protected PDFs supported?
No. Encrypted PDFs cannot be read by Ghostscript without the password. Remove the encryption in a PDF editor before uploading, then split.
What if I split a scanned PDF — will I get searchable text?
No. Scanned PDFs contain raster images rather than text data. Splitting extracts the image pages unchanged. No OCR runs during the split. Run the extracted pages through an OCR tool afterward if you need searchable text.
How large can my PDF be?
The file size limit is 20 MB. Most PDFs under 200 pages fall within this limit unless they contain many high-resolution photographs. If your file exceeds 20 MB, compress or downsample images in a PDF editor before uploading.
Are my files stored after splitting?
Both the input and output files are automatically deleted within 30 minutes of processing. Nothing is retained beyond your current session. No account is required.
